Geography

The historic region of Bundaberg is located just a 4.5-hour drive (350 kilometres) north of Brisbane and is located in the Wide Bay Burnett Region of south-east Queensland.

The original inhabitants of the Bundaberg area were the Gubbi Gubbi (or Kabi Kabi) people and the name Bundaberg is thought to be named from the Aboriginal word ‘bunda’ meaning ‘important man’, and the German suffix ‘berg’ meaning ‘mountain’.
